ECOWAS TO CONSIDER MILITARY FORCE TO REMOVE JAMMEH.

Crisis in Gambia as Jammeh insist on being President even after loosing in an election to Adama Barrow. Nigeria's President Buhari flew down to Gambia's capital, Banjul to broker a peace deal but Jammeh would not relinquish power.

ECOWAS, a 15-nation bloc of West African states organised a delegation that tried to broker a peace deal as the region fears the consequences of a non-peaceful transition.  It says it will consider removing Mr. Jammeh using military  force if he refuses to step aside. Mr Barrow is now heading to Mali where he will meet West African Leaders attending a summit there.

The African Union has said it will no longer recognise Mr Jammeh's rule beyong this point.
Mr Barow won 43.3% of the vote in December's election compared with Jammeh's 39.6%.

Jammeh seized power in 1994 making him nearly 23 years in Government and has been accused of human rights abuses.
