Jonah of the 21st Century: Diver survives after being swallowed by a whale

Image
A professional lobster diver who was swallowed by a humpback whale off the coast of Cape Cod, survived the scary incident after the mammal spat him back out.   Michael Packard, 56, was about 45 feet deep in the waters off Provincetown on Friday, June 11, when he “felt a huge bump, and everything went dark". According to him, he thought he had been attacked by a shark but later realized that he could not feel any teeth and he was not in any pain.   “All of a sudden, I felt this huge shove and the next thing I knew it was completely black,” Packard recalled Friday afternoon following his release from Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis. “I could sense I was moving, and I could feel the whale squeezing with the muscles in his mouth.”     “I was completely inside; it was completely black,” Packard said. “I thought to myself, ‘there’s no way I’m getting out of here. I’m done, I’m dead.’ All I could think of was my boys — they’re 12 and 15 years old.”   Mr.Micha...

History 101: What is your status as a Nigerian citizen living in Nigeria.

Image
In 1960, the Premier of the Northern region and Saurdauna of Sokoto, Ahmadu Bello while being interviewed by a BBC journalist boldly declared that the Nigerian government will first consider Northerners (qualified or not) in government positions. He announced that further consideration would be given to foreigners before  other Nigerians.  Here is the text interview. Interviewer: One thing I have noticed while I have been here is that northerners seem to have the worst form of obsession about the Igbos, could please explain that? Ahmadu Bello: Well, the Igbos are mainly the type of people whose desire is to dominate everybody. If they go to the village or town, they want to monopolise everything in that area. If you put them as a labourer, within a year they will try to emerge as the headman of that camp...and so on...well. We are not alive to their responsibilities because you can see from our modernisation policy that in 1952 when I came here, there weas less Northerners in ...

I don't like her. I hate him Part 2.

Do you realize that God shows mercy on unbelievers too? These includes churchgoers who are not saved, free thinkers and people of other religions. Yes he does. Have you noticed people say "oh God made me rich, God gave me a beautiful family, he answered my prayers" yet such people are yet to be saved. Such is the tender loving grace of our God.  However, the greatest blessing a man can ever receive is salvation but God doesn't force that  on anyone.  (Ask and you shall receive).  Even when there is a reason to hate someone, As a Christian you are still required to love such a person.  Let's tell ourselves the hard truth here. No matter what a person does to you, that is the more reason why you ought to love him or her. God has called you to love. Hard facts.. right?  Have you seen, heard or read where someone committed grave harm against another? For instance a thief killed the breadwiner of the family or the only child of the parents was mur...

I don't like her! I hate him. Part 1.

Image
Have you unwittingly found yourself hating someone even when there really was no reason to hate the person? The Lord states that the law has been sumed up into 2 commandments: Love the Lord your God with all your heart, your soul, strength and mind and love your neighbor as yourself. Luke 10:27. The answer to the question of who is a neighbor was beautifully unfolded in the parable of the good Samaritan. It asserts that everyone  you come across is your neighbor irrespective of tribe, race and religion.  As such you're required to love everyone you see. Did I hear you scream impossible?!  Some people who profess to be Christians often get me confuse when they hate on people without a reason. As a believer, you shouldn't even hate on others. Maybe something about the person rubs off wrongly on you and you just can't put your finger on it. How can a man claim to love God whom he has not seen yet hates his brother? Understand that as a Child of...

Peace and Hope in Crisis

Image
Hello guys,  I had a deep impression in my spirit to share this with y'all today. So much negativity is happening both here in Nigeria and in the global scene. The news are enough to make one panic. This is not to mention the personal struggles we go through in our lives as individuals and families.  The Lord says there's peace, succour and strength in Him.    He says, "I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace. In the world you have tribulation  and  distress  and  suffering, but be courageous [be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy]; I have overcome the world.” [My conquest is accomplished, My victory abiding.]" John  13:33.  Do not panic. Don't breakdown. Just be still. Let your mind be at rest. You will not be swallowed up by the evil. God will guide you into rest. He is your rest. Jesus ( Yahweh) loves you.  Kisses.
